Working principle of Rockwell hardness test :
The Rockwell scale is a hardness scale based on the molar hardness of a material. The Rockwell test determines the hardness by measuring the depth of penetration caused by electric current and the penetration of an indenter under a large load. There are various graduations indicated by letters, and different rods or indenters are used. The result is a dimensionless number denoted as HRA, where A is the scale letter.
